SLOs are the industry standard for measuring service reliability and customer happiness.
Yet, only roughly 40 percent of Datadog customers have adopted SLOs—the majority of which have fewer than 20 SLOs. In addition, a sizable portion of SLOs (~40%) are poor quality due to our free-form SLO creation process.
Customers struggle to reconcile the differences they see when they graph the raw metrics versus when they use the SLO product, causing them to question the accuracy of our calculations and churn.

After extensive discussions with the product manager and the engineering team, our choice leaned towards option 2.
The primary reason for this decision was its user-friendly navigation, especially in transitioning between different sections. Furthermore, the team expressed a collective preference for presenting metric previews and visualizations on the side, as opposed to the top of the interface.
